International Women’s Day is a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate how far we’ve come not just as individuals, but as women supporting women. Today, we want to take that moment to look back on our journey, to appreciate the challenges we’ve overcome, the milestones we’ve reached, and the lessons we’ve learned along the way.
If you had told us a few years ago that we'd be running a thriving business, winning awards, and becoming the faces of an exciting, growing brand, we probably would have laughed. Not because we didn't believe in ourselves, but because we never imagined just how much we'd grow both professionally and personally since taking that first step together.
Taking the Leap
We started Sully & Juno with a simple idea: to create stylish, sensory-friendly clothing that was inclusive, comfortable, and full of personality. But starting a business isn't just about ideas it’s about courage, resilience, and an insane amount of hard work.
From the beginning, we were in it together. We built our brand from the ground up, navigating the highs and lows of entrepreneurship with a mix of determination, caffeine, and the kind of friendship that makes even the hardest days feel possible. Every time one of us doubted ourselves, the other was there to say, "We’ve got this."
A Year of Big Moments
The past 12 months have been monumental in ways we never expected. It’s not just about business milestones it’s about personal victories that shaped us as individuals.
Gill’s Personal Wins
Bought my first home, a moment I worked so hard for and finally made happen.
Lost 26 kilos (4 stone) a journey of self-care, commitment, and finally feeling comfortable in my own skin.
Committed to learning Gaeilge every day for a year 365 days straight on Duolingo and counting!
Nina’s Personal Wins
Overcame my fear of dentists I avoided them for decades, but at 45, I finally faced it and had my first (and only!) filling.
Celebrated 20 years with Rob two decades of love, laughter, and everything in between.
And then, of course, there’s the business side of things:
Sully & Juno’s Biggest Achievements
We won ‘Best Newcomer 2024’ at Showcase, a moment that made us step back and say, "Wow, we’re really doing this."
We smashed every sales target we set, proving that our brand is here to stay.
We kicked off an exciting collaboration with UCD, which will hopefully be the start of something much bigger for Sully & Juno.
We opened our brand-new shop at 66 South Main Street, a space that truly represents who we are and allows us to connect with our incredible customers every day.
We showed up at festivals, at events, and in our store, where we continue to meet the people who make this all possible.
Reflecting on Our Journey
International Women’s Day is a day to acknowledge the power of perseverance, the strength of friendship, and the importance of women lifting each other up. As we look back on our own path, we recognize that every step big or small has been part of something greater. We’ve learned that success isn’t just about the big wins. It’s about the tiny moments of growth, the times we kept going when things felt impossible, and the people we’ve met along the way.
We’re beyond grateful to be women in business, to have built something from nothing, and to do it with the kind of friendship that makes everything feel possible.
To Women Everywhere: Keep Going
If we’ve learned anything, it’s that women are capable of incredible things. Whether you’re building a business, making a big life change, or just figuring things out as you go (spoiler: we all are), know that you’re not alone. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, lift others up, and never underestimate what you can achieve.
We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what’s next. Today, we celebrate how far we’ve come not just us, but all the women making their own paths, breaking barriers, and showing up for themselves and each other.
Happy International Women’s Day!
Lots of Love
Nina & Gill
